Eastern County Champs 2016

There were a number of Harriers competing on Saturday with many success stories, personal bests achieved, medals won and championship records broken.

In the senior women Stacey Eyers won gold in the 800m with a time of 2:20.3.

In the under 20 age group Connor Oliver won 100m gold with a PB of 11:04. Philippa Davenall added to her medal collection with gold in the Hammer with a winning throw of 53.28, breaking the championship record by 3.67m.

Tom Mitchell took silver in the javelin and Courtney Bland won bronze in the long jump, also with a PB of 4.49m

In the U17’s Rebecca Jeggo had a successful day winning double gold in the 100m & 200m, with a big PB in the 200m 24.75 (wind +2.3) and a championship record in the 100m 12.17 held since 1993.

Callum McKay held off tough competition in the 100m to secure gold in the 100m with a PB of 11:09, and Mufaro Shava won a deserved bronze in 11.47.

There was double medal success for U15 Ronnie Oliver who won silver with a PB in the 100m with a time of 11:72 and then won the long jump with 5.39m, again a PB.

Daniel Jones ran a gutsy race, despite struggling with a sore hip, to take silver in the 300m with a time of 39.31.

Finally, multi disciplined athlete Lauren Strutt was true to her title, competing from the start of the event to the end of the day. She began with high jump 1.35m, shot 8.35m and then took bronze in the triple jump.
